Notes one IT (Information Technology) resources provided by DeKalb County Schools.

2017-08 Collaboration experiment

While trying to organize the Sagamore Hills Elementary School robotics efforts in 2017-08, look into how teachers can host resources and collaborate, ideally outside DeKalb County Schools with parents who volunteer.

Following exercise while signed in as a teacher (e12345678@dekalbschoolsga.org)

G Suite Office 365
Create group
  1. Google G Suite at https://accounts.google.com/
  2. Google Apps icon in upper-right corner (square of 9 boxes) → Groups
  3. Create Group
  4. Group name
    TEST Group 01
    Group email address
    test-group-01@dekalbschoolsga.org

    Group description
    Just to see how groups work, created 2017-08
    Group's primary language
    English (United States)
    Group type

    Basic permissions
    View topics
    All (Managers, Members, Organization, Owner)
    Post
    All (Owners, Managers, Members, Organization)
    Join the Group
    Anyone in the organization (most permissive)

  2. Groups → + Create → Standard group
  3. Choose a name

    Email address

    Add a description
    Just to see how groups work, created 2017-08
    Privacy
    Public - Anyone can see what's inside
    Language for group-related notifications
    English (United States)
    Send copies of all group messages and events to members' inboxes. Members can go to the group inside Outlook to access conversations and choose which copies they want to receive in their inbox.

  3. My groups

  5. Members → Direct add members
  6. Enter email addresses to add as members
    First_Last@dekalbschoolsga.org (a teacher account)
    Write a welcome message
    This is First Last, adding you to this temporary test group, just to see how it might work. I'll delete the group after I'm done testing!
